A Sunday Walk

My wife and I walk every day with 8 paws. On Weekends we extend the walk thru a wooded area that separates a main road from a group of houses. It is a natural 100 year old habitat with thick Eucalyptus trees a few canyon oaks and sycamores and a contoured path carved by generations of those who came before.. We walked one way thru it and then we turned and walked back thru and were surprised what was also at our back. With my wife's little Coolpix, I handed off my leash and took some really cool natural abstracts of the smooth, yet multicolored trunks of the Eucs. and the sun piercing thru the trees as though they were sent by the gods themselves for me. I was spiritulized if thats a word. We walked back up cardio hill to my house feeling my day was complete before 8 o clock.

October Colors

I was looking back in some of my archive photo folders and noticed that October skies seem to be a great inspiration for me. If you are seeking pure color, and natural gradients of light and color, then check some of these out. Since 2005, the autumn sky has found my eye, whether its a smoky red, or crystal clear as the sun dips its golden hair and it fades the sky to a dark blue with a hint of red.

For me, I love pure color, its a natural abstracts and the color is the subject

Slow Train Coming

Well folks, its been awhile since I posted anything, but I hope to pick up with regular observations. I have been busy as the team photog for my son's cross country team. My oldest son is the staff writer for the team. You can see our handiwork on www.missionviejocrosscountry.com

Looks like my foray into the surf world became a casualty of our deep economic woes. A year ago we had about a healthy share of the market, but the size of the pie shrank, and the volume could not support us. So its living in our hearts and minds and got a little piece of our soul too. Three years of start-up work, finally had the best product on the market, but the market disappeared.

Moving on. Photography has always been a passion of mine, so while I was flush, I invested in high end printing and scanning equipment to digitize the transparencies of my travels and observations of the world around me. I look for the road less travelled, but sometimes find the little something that everyone passes over.

My web-site will be launching soon. I have gone into the archives and found some gems.
landscapes, seascapes, skyscapes, ripple scapes, treescapes, everday scapes...might say I am an e-scape artist.....follow that thought...SKP...Stu Krupoff Photography...SKP...might work.
It certainly has been an escape for me...

Holidays are coming, buy original art.

Road Trip 1997 Pacifc Northwest

On this trip we decided to do a roadie up the coast. We spent time in the small towns on the Oregon Coast, beachcombing at the multitude of little trails that wondered thru a lush green forest that opened up to wide open beaches with lots of sand dollars, driftwood and jelly fish washed ashore. Then up to the Olympic National Park, where we hiked around on Hurrican Ridge, Hoh and Quinault rainforests, with their giant Spruce and Cedar groves. The ugly part were the areas they had clear cut and removed the dense forest along the way, but it is renewable and it was growing back.

here is a link to the album I selected for you to view.

1998 ROAD TRIP- WYOMING-YELLOWSTONE- GRAND TETONS

Wanderlust- Its been a family summer vaction tradition for many years to take a 2 week sojourn. In 1998, we met our good friends from Germany and stayed in a cabin in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Using JH as our base camp, we explored and hiked and discovered the land of Big Open Spaces, wild weather, wild animals, and absolutely stunning details of nature, in and around the great National Parks. Hundreds of pictures were taken and I have tried to titrate them down to a few of can be recognized as Stu-Art, Natural Abstracts, details of nature. All these were taken with film, transparencies, and scanned on my High rez Creo. Many have been printed and all are available.

Sacred Craft 2008

Last weekend was Sacred Craft. I took around 200 pictures and have been editing all week. Of course the show buzz is over but I owe this to the 20+ shapers who exhibitted some really awesome boards in our Booth. As a show sponsor, we had a 10 x 40, more space than we knew what to do with. Blanks are blanks, right!? We had a few on the rack for the Daum demos and they were using Mowses in the Shape-off.

We asked about 20 shapers to contribute to our booth and help them get some exposure. Our intention was to give a few artisans some time in the spotlight. They responded !!! The boards on display were made from both Mowses and Cane formula. There were some beautiful tints and color work, fabric inlays, and wood, bamboo and a few used boards too. The used boards, showed remarkable strength and durability, both had hit the rocks and had been ridden by a few heavy footed individuals. They were in almost new condition and worthy.

Upon review of my pics, I guess when it comes to board porn, it seems I am a nose and tail man...I try to show at least a glimpse of the artistry. Although the overall shapes and rockers were absolutely sexy on all of them. Each shaper participating had a nice profile written up by Ice-Nine's jounalists Sierra and Mike and they can be seen on the ice-nine web site. http://www.ice-ninefoamworks.com/shaperlist.html Please check them out and give them a buzz....

The display for the boards was made in our woodshop, on our cnc. Kudos to them for putting it all together in less than a week. Amazing. My photos should be so cool.
